We started April as usual, celebrating Elena's 12th birthday! Just one more year until we have a teenager in the house. By the end of the day, she was sick with a fever. Both schools in town got hit hard by several different viruses all at once, including influenza , whooping cough and strep. We managed to escape with just 2 family members getting sick. Frankie was the other one, and he had a fever that lasted 7 days. It didn't show him down too much, though. Here is video of him with a temp of just under 102. (Apologies in advance for the close up of his snotty nose. And yes, those are Christmas decorations up on the wall in April. They are down now)
The weekend after Elena's birthday, my college roommate and Sam's godmother came to visit. We haven't seen her in 7 years so our visit was very much anticipated and enjoyed! We celebrated Rachana and Elena's birthdays together as they are both in April. Towards the end of our visit, she introduced the kids to the Boomerang app on her phone. It's a good thing she waited for the end or she would have been stuck making boomerang videos the whole time. I'll include an example below.
And we amazingly we all managed to fit into one selfie. Rachana is clearly better at that than I am because I struggle even to fit just myself with my big belly into a selfie.
