That explains a lot

Charlie has been starting to brush his teeth on his own, which has been great. The only drawback is that there has been a bit more toothpaste to clean up in the bathroom sink. And floor. I didn't think too much of it at first, figuring he was just oversqueezing or missing his toothbrush when he put the toothpaste on.

Then one day, I walked into the bathroom to see Charlie trying to open a new tube of toothpaste. I told him there was still some left in the old tube, and I could help him get it on his toothbrush.

"No, I don't want to brush my teeth. I want to go like this!" he said, as he held the tube of toothpaste over the sink and tried to squeeze out all the toothpaste.

We had a little talk about the proper use of toothpaste, and I gave him an empty lotion bottle full of water that he could squeeze into the sink as much as he wanted. I'm happy to report that I have not had nearly so much to clean up since then.

By the way, our new bathroom is done! What was once our library/office is now a spacious bathroom,  thanks to the hard work of Seth and my dad. My favorite feature: a bathtub surrounded by tile vs. easily water-damaged wainscoting. Bathtime is a bit less stressful now for our little splashers.

I have a few before and after pictures. Unfortunately we started taking the library apart before we thought to get a picture so our "before pictures" aren't the best.

And the most entertaining part of the renovation (for me anyway) was when Seth had to go into the wall to install the shelves, leaving his only point of escape a hole at the top of the wall. This video was actually taken the 2nd time he had to climb out this way because he had to check out a leak in the pipes.

We really lucked out on this remodel project; shortly after opening up the walls, we discovered that several of the copper pipes in the house have recently sprung leaks in them and need replacing. So we went ahead and had them all replaced. If we had done this project any sooner or later, those leaks could have ended up going unnoticed and causing a lot of damage.
