Look Who's Talking

Frankie has been talking for awhile, but he's saying more words that we actually understand now. His most common ones are "Mama," "hot," "kitty," "tickle," "hi," "more," and "bath."

Bath is the most entertaining. It took me a little while to figure out what he was saying, but when I finally got it right, he was so happy. It doesn't sound anything like "bath."  It's closer to "indigo" but at least we got it. We got some video footage of him saying it. We were laughing so much when he was saying it that now when you ask him to say bath, he just laughs expectantly, waiting for everyone else to join in. It makes me wonder how many more words he is saying consistently, and we just haven't caught on yet.

Here are a couple of videos of him. The first is of him saying more and the second is bath.

Watch your step

When you have a four year gap between two children, you tend to forget about all the things little kids do until the next one comes along to remind you.

This is what Charlie's room looks like after he gets dressed.

Apparently when you are 4, it is too difficult to search for an outfit without removing all of your clothes from the drawer.  On this particular day, he was looking for a pair of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pants that were downstairs in the wash, but he made darn sure they weren't in that drawer.

After seeing it, I suddenly remembered going through this stage with Sam 4 years ago.  Maybe I won't be so surprised in 2 years when Frankie does this.

Elena: "Charlie, do you want to color with me?"

Charlie, who had painted a picture earlier: "No. I already arted today."

Dance Party!

All the kids were busting out their dance moves the other night and I recorded some of it. (Charlie was done dancing by the time I started taping because he was mad that we wouldn't let him swing a mop around after he almost hit Frankie in the head so he is not featured much). They all love dancing, and Frankie takes it quite seriously. He frequently will grab one of the older kids and drag them over to the CD player, pointing and waiting impatiently for them to turn on some music and dance with him.

Some of you who follow this blog may remember me posting a video of Sam dancing to our new keyboard 5 years ago. For a refresher, you can see it again here.

He's still got some pretty inventive moves so I put together a little compilation of some of his best for you to enjoy. This second video is actually taken in the same room as the previous one - it just looks a lot different.  You'll get treated to some of Elena's and Frankie's moves in the bargain this time. Frankie is focusing pretty hard on mastering the art.

To those of you who frequented sporting events in the late 90's, get ready for some flashbacks when the music starts.
